The Sladen Library and Center for Health Information of Henry Ford Hospital is seeking a dynamic and service-oriented part-time (36 hours) with benefits librarian to join our collaborative team of information professionals. General Responsibilities Under limited supervision, performs a variety of advanced and complex professional library services including mediated searching, bibliographic instruction and collection development. Analyzes and answers information requests and reference questions. Provides computerized literature searches to library users, including analysis of topic and search strategy formulation. Specific Duties and Responsibilities * Serves as Sladen Library's serials librarian. * Responsible for system-wide electronic journal management, including maintaining journal holdings, journal administration account management, IP address management, Serhold and OpenURL maintenance. * Oversees the operation of the citation linker (currently Ex Libris' SFX). * Troubleshoots and provides analysis of difficult linking issues and patron connection problems. * Oversees a small print serial component and bound journal collection. * Maintains electronic resource statistics collection and recordkeeping. * Serves as the mobile resources contact. * Edits the Sladen Libraries' Newsletter. * Provides back-up assistance to the librarian in charge of training and manuscript preparation. * Works closely with acquisitions staff in decision-making with regard to journal collection. Minimum Requirements Education and Experience: Masters Degree in Information and Library Science from an A.L.A. accredited program. Membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals is required (within one year) to obtain professional knowledge required for the position. Participates in continuing education. A minimum of one year's experience is required in order to acquire necessary knowledge and skills. Preferred Qualifications * Experience in a health sciences library. * Expert skills in searching major medical databases including PubMed, OvidWeb and CINHAL. Excellent web searching ability. * Serials and electronic resource experience. * Demonstrated knowledge of citation linker software, particularly SFX. * Knowledge of mobile medical resources and associated devices (e.g. iPhone, iPad, Droid). * Experience with citation management software, particularly EndNote. * Knowledge of industry standards related to serials and e-resources (e.g. ISSN, OpenURL, COUNTER, MARC). * Experience with SFX, OpenURL, EndNote, Swetswise, Ovid Medline, PubMed, CINHAL, Web of Science, LibGuides). * Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. * Strong collaborative and service orientation.
