Mayor Proclaims National Bird Day In Madison

Join Dane County Humane Society in helping?Born Free USA?and the?Avian Welfare Coalition?in the annual National Day of Action for Captive Birds by helping educate the public about issues affecting captive birds.?

In addition, DCHS is happy to share that Mayor Paul R. Soglin of the City of Madison officially proclaimed this day as National Bird Day in Madison on Thursday, Jan. 5.

National Bird Day is a day to appreciate our own native wild birds flying free outside our windows, and a day to reflect on how we treat the native birds of other countries. National Bird Day is also a time to commit to improving the lives of birds in captivity and supporting efforts aimed at protecting birds in the wild.

DCHS currently has a finch named Gaston and a chicken named Butterscotch looking for their forever homes. Consider adopting a feathered friend from a local shelter.
